If you get selected, you will be posted in various departments of central government. The basic eligibility is BE/BTech to appear for Engineering services exam.
Total Vacancies to be filled by Indian Engineering Services 2012: 560
Departments: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunications engineering.
Eligibility: A valid BE/BTech Degree from recognized Institute or University .
Age Limit: by January 1st, 2012 you should be 21 years and should not exceed 30 years. Sc, STs get 5 years and OBCs get 3 years of exemption.

Written Examination Pattern :
IES written exam is for a total of 1000 marks. The written examination will comprise two sections— Section I consisting only of objective types of questions and Section II of conventional papers. Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. The details of the written examination i.e. subject, duration and maximum marks allotted to each subject are given in table below.
Note: There will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.
Interview: For those who selected in written exam will be called for this section which is of 200 marks. This a personality evaluation test.
Remuneration: In the beginning itself, as an executive engineer, as per 6th pay commission you will draw 36,000 salary including all allowances. After 25 years of service you will reach to the level of Engineer in chief.
